Existing demand, off-continent supply

The pattern is striking: African researchers are already producing synchrotron-enabled science — but almost entirely on instruments thousands of kilometres away. Every mention of a foreign facility is a beamtime trip an African light source could host at home, with all the training, retention and cost-of-access benefits that implies.
