Conferences and schools are where the African Light Source community comes together — to build the science case, train the next generation of African researchers, and advance the AfLS Roadmap. The events below are undertaken as AfLS projects, or by partner organisations that share membership with the AfLS Steering Committee and recognise their work as part of the AfLS Roadmap.
ProgrammeA growing series of meetings
Since the inaugural meeting in Grenoble in 2015, the African Light Source has convened a regular cycle of flagship conferences and specialist schools across the continent and beyond. The flagship AfLS conferences set strategic direction and report on the Roadmap, while topical schools — such as the biophysics and structural-biology workshops — build hands-on skills in synchrotron-based research.
