THE STALLMaking the case in Cape Town
At its stall, the AfLS ran a rolling slideshow on a large screen display, while Committee members were on hand throughout the conference to talk directly with delegates about the project and the future of synchrotron science on the continent. Sharing the space with the South African Synchrotron Users allowed the African light-source community to present a united front to an international audience.
ABOUT ICRIA forum for global research infrastructure
ICRI aims to highlight the essential role of global research infrastructures in addressing grand challenges and in serving as hubs for innovation. The 2016 conference reflected on the needs, development and long-term sustainability of global and regional research infrastructures, and explored the possibility of moving towards an international roadmap for them, a conversation in which a future African Light Source has a natural place.
